Electricians Eddy and Luigi bask in the light of their labor.

The light at Chester Eastside has never been brighter! Just yesterday our friends from AllBright Electric Service paid us another visit. It took a few hours, and when the job was done we had new LED tubular lights in all of CEI’s common rooms. Thanks guys for a great job!

First and foremost, we offer our great gratitude to our friends and partners here at St. Paul’s. The Vestry had already invested in the installation of LED lights in the rest of the first floor. Without hesitation, Rev. Larry and the Vestry members approved installing additional lights in the rooms CEI rents. Thank you to the St. Paul’s faithful!

So, here’s the deal with LED lights. They offer twice as much light. They use a fraction of the watts needed for fluorescent tubes, and they cost a fraction to operate. An LED tube can last anywhere from 10-15 years! And when they go, they go…no more fluorescent flickering as the lights slowly die. Also, no more ballasts (click here if you are curious) to replace – saving time, energy, funds, and ladder work needing an electrician. When one of the tubes does go dark (a generation from now) they can simply be replaced with a new one. With this transition we are more efficient, more effective, and more economical – and on top of that all the brighter. Voila, light!!

Chester Eastside Logo

Speaking, and singing, about light… Our new logo is all about light. In particular, the light that rises in the east signaling the beginning of a new day; ripe with new possibilities.

And so I would offer joy for each of the lights that gather in our shining new place: those who come for sustenance and comfort, those who come to learn and play, those who come to teach and serve, and those who come in search of community. Although each may be a “little light” as the song says, together, the bright beam of Chester Eastside continues to shine with the light of brilliant diversity and blessed unity.

And so, my friends, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Peace,

Andy
