In the New Testament you will find the expression “cloud of witnesses.” It refers to the people who continue to surround and support us after they are gone. From that cloud comes witness to the promise that light ultimately and completely defeats darkness.
In this season of light and hope, and as this year comes to its close, we are especially mindful and grateful for all who have offered themselves in support of CEI’s mission. It is all of you, the Chester Eastside “cloud of witnesses”, who create a place of warmth, welcome, and relief for all who come to us.
And so, in the spirit of the cloud of witnessess, we offer our gratitude in a word cloud with the same message in many tongues…recognizing our glorious diversity as people and our complete unity in purpose.
To the more than 30 houses of worship, we thank you for putting your faith into action by supporting our programs and services with food, funds, volunteers, and spiritual solidarity.
We thank the 13 foundations who have offered not just their funds, but their trust that we will use them well in fulfilling our mission.
We thank the more than 160 individuals who have offered their personal financial treasures to support the programs and services we provide.
And, of course, we would not exist without the cloud of 44 witnesses who offer their very selves, volunteering their time and talents to welcome strangers and feed neighbors.
With the closing of the year also comes the closing of our Annual Appeal. If you have not yet contributed, it is not too late. Every donation, no matter the size, becomes one more voice in the Chester Eastside cloud of witnesses.
