Volunteer Opportunities
Serving with Hands and Hearts…
Very little would happen at Chester Eastside in the absence of so many dedicated and generous volunteers. We strive to create cohesive teams to offer not just relief from need, but a warm and caring welcome. Most of all, we rejoice in the call to give of ourselves while seeking to lift up anyone who comes through our doors. Volunteers can assist in so many ways:
- serve in the Open Cupboard, Open Closet, or Open Table Programs
- tutor/mentor in the After-School Program or Summer Camp
- volunteer just about any time of year in the Community Garden
- offer support on a single project basis or one of our special events
- provide professional expertise in programmatic or administrative areas
- offer donations of food, clothing, household items, or program supplies

We require that all volunteers receive a training to explain policies and procedures, and to be oriented to our core values and service commitments. Once completed, volunteers are invited to serve in the programs of their choice, and to define the frequency of their service. Anyone volunteering in programs for children and youth are required to complete a background check.
