After a long and comprehensive search process, we are beyond thrilled to announce the arrival of CEI’s new Director of Education. Without further ado…

Whitney Wright brings nearly 15 years of enthusiastic and proven experience to oversee the functions and needs of all academic programs.

As an educator, Whitney is devoted to being of service in the community by applying culturally responsive practices and strategic planning to support sustainable positive change. Whitney previously taught History and African American studies in grades 6-12 in Pennsylvania and in Virginia. She also has years of experience as a secondary school administrator and has worked as a Coordinator of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.

Whitney earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in History from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Mary Baldwin College. She also obtained all but dissertation (ABD) status in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech.

Her philosophy is that your passions can create unique opportunities to be innovative and engage communities in life-long learning. It’s her commitment to serving historically marginalized groups that fuels her work.

Whitney’s immersion will be quick and complete, as she begins her service on Monday (yes, tomorrow!). There is much to be done in the weeks to come as we prepare to open our doors to the students in the After-School Program. Under Whitney’s leadership, we know our doors will swing wide with welcome into a world of learning, laughing, striving, and growing.

Details about the registration process, the programs, and the schedules for the After-School Program will be posted as soon as they are available.

Finally, expressions of welcome and support are always appreciated. You can reach Whitney at the office (610-872-4812) or via email: [email protected].
